Out Spied

A basic game store haul totalling $12. But what’s that “spying” from the back? A $7 copy of Super Spy Hunter which was only $2.50 after a store rewards discount? Yup. Win.

Black (Long Box) Friday

A $40 Black Friday haul. Everything was 25% off at a local store.

It’s Thrifty

A small thrift store haul, for a total of $10. That’s worth it for the Marvel games alone.

On Flea-k

Around $40 for everything here (not pictured are two Tiger Woods Xbox 360 games) at an annual flea market. Good score despite the lack of controllers or AC adapter for the SNES.

Bundling

After a trade-in, this lot came to $40 at a local game store. Decided to start buying last gen games in collections/bundles to save on space. It’s not much, but replacing God of War and Infamous with those collections makes room for two additional shelf spots.

Now You’re Playing With Power (Pad)

Half off thrifting day and rummage sale day. Mostly resale items except for the Xbox games. Not pictured is a 3D Avatar Blu-ray and a slew of character twin bed sheets. Bed sheets? Yes.

If you want something else to hunt while you’re thrifting, scour the bedding. ’80s era bed sheets/sleeping bags can command a decent return. Real Ghostbusters, Batman, Ninja Turtles… Etc. As long as condition is great, they can sell.

The Day of Birth

Was given (mostly) free reign to mop up in a local game store as a birthday gift, leading to this $75/free game haul. While Strider 2 may be missing the other disc (with an emulated version of the arcade original), it’s been on my most wanted list for a decade now. I’ll take what I can get. Sports fans should note NHL 2002 on GBA, which is an update to the Genesis era NHL titles. Physics are a touch off, but everything from the menus to the sprites are identical to NHL 96/97/98.

(Update: The Strider 2 disc is actually the Strider arcade disc. All copies were misprinted, and the games printed in reverse. I can see why the mistake is easy to make now.)

Giving Up – But Suddenly…

image

Another day of garage sales led to the discovery of a single $1 Xbox game. Nearly called it quits, but decided to test a small weekend flea market and discovered the Apple Video System – brand new except for the open box. For $1, that’s a no brainer.

Probably Stellar Purchase

image

$63 between two buys at a local game store and Goodwill. Nothing immediately leaps out, but Beat Down and Twin Cobra have long been on the want list. Time to scratch them off, even though Twin Cobra is in miserable condition. Bomberman on PSP isn’t special now, but most games in the series maintain or go up in value.

Sports Days

A double store find between a local shop and Destiny Games in Michigan. With movie trade-ins and a leftover gift card, this entire haul only ran me $24.50. Ridge Racer Unbounded had eluded me for some time. It must be somewhat uncommon. And, any day with a CD-i score is a good day.
